Interview with Ioannis (Yiani) Athanasiadis
Yiani Athanasiadis was as born in northern Greece, Kozani. He spent his childhood in Greece and much of his formative years in Germany before migrating to Australia in his early 20s. Yiani gives an extensive account of his involvement in the mining industry of Coober Pedy and the hunt for precious opal. He discusses the early formation of the Greek community in the opal mining town in the centre of South Australia and how he established the successful Stuart Range Caravan and Tourist Park.
