Interview with Peter Privopoulos
Peter Privopoulos was born into affluence in the suburb of Galata in Constantinople, now known as Istanbul, Turkey. He recalls his early youth growing up in an atmosphere of high culture and learning. Despite his father’s position as right-hand-man to the Greek Orthodox Church Patriarch, social and political unrest forced him and his family to migrate to Australia at 8 years old. He discusses the cultural contrasts between Australian and Diaspora Greeks and his role in the foundation of the Saint George parish.
