Conference & awards update

The 2026 OHA Biennial Conference is getting closer. Registration is scheduled to open in early August and applications and nominations for the OHA awards close 31 July 2026.

The conference will be held in Tardanya/Adelaide, South Australia, on the lands of the Kaurna people, from 3-6 December. It is being presented jointly by Oral History Australia and Oral History Australia SA/NT.

Our conference theme ‘Human Voices, Modern Technology: Oral History & Authenticity’ is very timely given rapidly advancing technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI). We are therefore thrilled to welcome Professor Doug Boyd, a world expert on technology and oral history, as our keynote speaker.

Professor Boyd was recently named a 2026-27 University Research Professor at the University of Kentucky. He was recognised for his leadership in oral history, digital innovation and ethical AI applications that expand access to archival collections. (Read more.)

Details of our 2026 conference are available on our conference website. We have recently added a new page with details of the venue and local accommodation options.

Please note that concession rates will be available for members of OHA state associations and the National Oral History Association of New Zealand (NOHANZ).
