Our guest speaker will be Dr Sharon Mascall-Dare. Her talk will be on Empowering military veterans through narrative – oral history as a tool for self-transformation.

Sharon is an award-winning journalist, broadcaster and writer. She moved to Australia from her native England in 1993, and worked as a freelance journalist, broadcaster, and newsreader for Radio Australia. In 2013, she was appointed as a Commissioned Officer in the Australian Army Reserves. Her operational experience with the Australian Defence Force includes deployment to Iraq from 2016-17 where she served as the Public Relations Officer for Task Group Taji IV.

Sharon is a serving member of the Government of South Australia’s Veterans’ Advisory Council and an Australian Army Reserve Public Affairs Officer, currently posted to the Defence Command Support Training Centre. She is also the Honorary Chair of StoryRight, a not-for-profit programme that supports veterans’ transition to civilian employment, and Head of Communications and Marketing at the Defence, Aviation and Critical Services Company, Babcock Australasia.
